Anchor Keith Olbermann and MSNBC Network Unexpectedly Part Ways

Top anchor Keith Olbermann, and the U.S cable television news network MSNBC suddenly separated ways on Friday, following the broadcaster’s suspension less than three months ago for campaign donations to Democrats.

The famous broadcaster, Olbermann still has his 2 year contract with the mentioned network but signed off for the last time on his show “Countdown with Keith Olbermann” on Friday night.

Olbermann said in his last aired show that it would be his last edition of “Countdown”. The show constantly drew more than a million viewers each night. The network stated that the two parties have ended their contract; however neither party gave the reason for the said action.

His exit happened just a few months after the suspension that MSNBC gave to Olbermann for doling money to three democratic politicians during the campaign of congressional election together with Representative Gabrielle Giffords, who was unexpectedly shot and wounded in an assassination plot last January 8 in Arizona.

The network said MSNBC showed gratitude to the broadcaster for his role in MSNBC’s triumph and wished well him for his future career.

Olbermann’s show helped define MSNBC as a liberal voice in television, as well as a counterpoint to Fox News’ huge conservative bend. Today, MSNBC is positioned 2nd in the cable news ratings outrunning CNN but behind Fox News.

MSNBC underwent transition today. Comcast Corp won the approval from the Federal Communications Commission earlier this week with the U.S Justice Department for its blend with NBC Universal, the company runs MSNBC.
