Nintendo Co is thinking about shipping 1.5 million handheld game player units that have three-dimensional capability in Japan in its first month after their launch on February 26. President Satoru Iwata released this news in an interview with Nikkei Business Daily published on Monday.
Iwata said, as quoted by the Nikkei, that it is important for them to ensure a continuous supply. The company will be working on avoiding shortages of products, which happened previously when DS versions were first released in the market.
Nintendo Co Ltd is a multinational corporation that is based in Kyoto, Japan. It was founded year 1889 by Fusajiro Yamauchi. It had tried several types of small businesses before they turned into a video game company.
They are now one of the strongest companies in the industry and are considered as the third most valuable company in Japan. They have a market value of over 85 billion US dollars.
Their 3DS game players are scheduled to go on sale in Europe and United States by the third month of this year. According to the Nikkei, Nintendo aims to sell about 4 million units around the world by the end of that month.
Microsoft Corp’s Kinect, as well as Sony Corp’s Move controllers have improved with Nintendo Wii’s motion-gaming technology. But, Apple Inc and Google Inc’s Android chipped away at the Nintendo’s share in the handheld gaming market.

According to the research firm ShopperTrak, U.S sales went up on Saturday as many people continued shopping for gifts. Sales were up 15.1 percent from last year. However, this year also profited most than last year because of the blizzard that hit the East Coast.
But, many shoppers are still procrastinating with less than a week left before Christmas. About 23 million shoppers are still expected to be out on Christmas Eve according to a survey done by the International Council of Shopping Centers.
As Christmas nears, consumers have increased their shopping pace and purchases. Retail shops are also shaping up to get favorable holiday sales and December performances.
December 23 is considered to be the year’s second biggest day when it comes to shopping sales and the third biggest foot traffic, according to ShopperTrak founder Bill Martin. The foot traffic on Saturday was up 10.1 percent in comparison to last year’s record.
Almost three quarters of Americans are already done with their shopping on Saturday. Last week, only half of the Americans completed their Christmas shopping.
The Saturday shopping mooed increased the retailers’ sales for the whole. ICSC-Goldsman Sachs weekly chain store sales index showed an increase of 4.2 percent sales from the previous year.
Yet, ICSC found that spending will not yet end on Christmas. Many consumers are still planning to go shopping a day after that, and will be out the whole week between Christmas and New Year.

About 74% of Americans find shopping online as the easiest way to complete their Christmas gifts, while 87% think brick-and-mortar stores do a better job in setting them up in a holiday spirit, according to the StrategyOne’s Annual Holiday Shopping Index.
There are less than three weeks left in the holiday shopping season and survey shows Americans are still divided on whether best deals can be found online or in stores. 52% of Americans state that they can find the best deals online, while 48% believes they could get the best deals in retail stores.
StrategyOne is a Daniel J. Fdelman strategic research and polling firm. Based on its recent public opinion poll gathered from 1,052 Americans, they also found out that 54% of Americans think shopping online is the most effective way to spend without exceeding their holiday gift budget.
Bradley Honen, the senior vice-president of StrategyOne observed that online retailing has increasingly become a critical part of the holiday shopping season, which can be seen in the rising fame of ‘Cyber Monday and the remarkable Thanksgiving Dayonline spending.
However, it is still evident how some aspects of retail experience can not be matched when shopping online, such as feeling the holiday spirit.
In general, 59% of the consumers said that they would still prefer completing their holiday shopping in stores. Yet, that preference differs among various income groups.

However, young people are now shopping for higher priced items, which means that shoppers are more willing to use their income rather than saving it. This is based from Jharonne Martis-Olivo’s statement, the director of consumer research at Thomson Reuters.

Designer Pierre Cardin alleged that fashion designers these days change styles so fast that makes it more difficult to create couture designs that will last for several years. He believes that this is partly due to releasing collections twice a year.
The 88-year-old French fashion designer was attending a show co-sponsored by a well known department store in Tokyo when he said that the business is now much harder for fashion designers than during the time when he first started the industry about 60 years ago.
In his interview, he said that there were still very few designers at the end of the war. Today, there are several designs in every country, around the world. Thus, it is impossible to create new designs ever year, but instead every six months.
Nowadays, the fashion trends are getting crazier, more beautiful and fantastic on the eyes. However, designers are not creating fashion styles for tomorrow. He added that there is a lot of fashion today, but later on, in about four to five years, it’s gone.
When Cardin launched his own label in 1950, he was informed that what he was doing was impossible. It was his belief in himself and the obsession that pushed him through.
For him, his work is like an addiction, which made him able to do it for a very long time.
