OMG Adele is Having a Baby

The UK soul screaming superstar had whose hit record ’21’ was multi Grammy Award winning machine last year. Adele, 24 wrote on her weblog that she is expecting with her guy, Simon Konecki.

Although ’21’ was a blockbuster selling more than 9 million copies, she has made it clear in the past that she is not in a hurry to make another album. Having children is clearly a priority for the star whose album, for 70 strait weeks, has been in the top 10. This week it is still sitting in no 7 and had been in the coveted first spot for 24 out of those 70 weeks.

This news should come as no suprise to hard core Adele fans as she has told magazinze that she really wants to be a “mum”. She has also stated that she wants to have 3 sons by the time she hits 30. Sounds like she will be pretty busy for the next 6 years.

Adele’s guy Simon runs a charity called Drop4Drop. The charity aims to get developing countries the clean water they so desperately need. They have been an item for almost a year.

Here is her note posted on her website:

“I’m delighted to announce that Simon and I are expecting our first child together, I wanted you to hear the news direct from me, obviously we’re over the moon and very excited but please respect our privacy at this precious time.”

Lets hope that her next album is filled with happy songs, although she has not given date for any projects forthcoming.

Madonna Halftime Show Sets Records

Madonna Superbowl Halftime Show 2012Madonna showed us once again why she is still a powerful force in the music industry with one of the best Superbowl halftime shows in recent history.

The show opened with Madonna entering on a dais performing “Vogue.” She and her dancers showed off their style and grace by making us all remember this dance and made everyone want to Vogue with her. Her Greek revival made her look like a goddess. Then she quickly changed her look and went into the upbeat “Music.”

Music had a new upbeat feel and a dance on a wire that wowed the crowed. The new beat was was soon turned into a remix and she was joined by LAMFAO. They joined her center stage and Music got a surprising remix. Madonna showed that she can keep up, because even Madonna shuffles everyday.

After Music Madonna grabbed some pom-poms and went right into “Give Me All Your Luvin.” She suprised us yet again when Niki Manaj showed up with the assist. The song ended with a halftime drum line.

Just when we thought it could not get any better Madonna and everyone on stage was in choir robes. The world held it’s breath as she began one of her most popular songs “Like A Prayer” She was joined by Cee Lo and the two sang it in front of a full choir and made everyone remember why this was one of her best songs.

Everyone was enjoying the song and Madonna was moving around the stage like an angel. Then right before the last note she disappeared in a cloud of smoke and sang the last word of the song as the smoke cleared. The audience was left with her message and hope for everyone: “World Peace.”

If you keep performing like that Madonna, everyone will be inspired to create world peace.

Volkswagen Super Bowl Commercial

Volkswagon Superbowl Ad 2012Volkswagon has one of the most talked about Superbowl commercials this year again! If you have not seen it take a look below.  It features a sad overweight dog who cannot even fit through the doggy door.  Add a little hard work and excersise and we have a happy ending for the dog chasing a brand new Beetle.

What happens after that is a little strange though.  The commercial pans out to a Star Wars bar where they are talking about the commercial.  It a little bit of a Huh?!? moment, but ends up being funny as well even though out of place.  Check it out for yourself below.

Nicholas Charles Nickeas grew up in Chicago and worked late-night jobs when he was still in high school to help his family. He eventually sent himself to Columbia College Chicago and studied communications. He worked as a taxi driver to pay help pay for his tuition, said CNN.

He was still driving a taxi in 1970 when he first had a job with WICS in Springfield. That was when he started using the screen name “Nick Charles” as advised by his news director.

Charles left Springfield for a local station in Baltimore and then in Washington. After which, he began working with CNN on the network’s very first day – June 1, 1980.

“Zombie Apocalypse” Crashes Blog Website

A post from the blog website of the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention drove too much traffic that it actually caused the site to crash on Thursday. The post is about hurricane preparation but used “zombie apocalypse” to trigger the curiosity of Americans and get them to read the blog.

The Zombie Apocalypse campaign is the effort of the Public Health and Preparedness department of the CDC to spread information and awareness regarding the hurricane season which will begin on June 1st.

The blog post started by saying that there are a lot of emergencies that we should prepare for and sited “zombie apocalypse” as one of those emergencies.  Also, it was released days before the forecasted “Judgment Day” on May 21 which added a flavor on the campaign. A couple of weeks ago an evangelical broadcaster based in California predicted that May 21 is the “judgment day” or end of the world.

Dave Daigle, CDC spokesperson, told Reuters on Thursday that if you are prepared for a zombie apocalypse, you are prepared for all other emergencies.

Zombies became mainstream after George Romero successfully released a horror film entitled “Night of the Living Dead” in 1968. The movie was about flesh-eating zombies that roamed the eastern seaboard after a radioactive contamination. Zombie is a term that comes from a voodoo practice wherein victims are stripped of their consciousness.

Daigle said that they aim to reach a young demographic to raise awareness about disaster preparedness. The campaign did just that as it went viral on several social media sites like Facebook and Twitter.

Smartphone Apps Best for TV Lovers

More than one out of three smartphone owners utilize their phones at the same time as watching television. Almost half of the entire users spend their time logged in to social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook.

However, most of them access various apps that are particularly designed for TV lovers. The site showed five best smartphone applications for TV fanatics, this include GetGlue, IMDB Mobile, Shazam, TV.com Mobile, and InToNow.

GetGlue is the best social networking site for individuals who love to watch television. It is an application that rewards users for tuning-in on real time shows. Users have to check-in to avail of the digital stickers offered by the application. These stickers can be used to get a free hard copy set from the website itself.

The second best smartphone application for TV lovers includes IMDB Mobile. This app allows smartphone users to look up the names of several actors. It can also check on what’s showing on a particular time through the use of Popular TV. It also provides pocket-sized recaps of the latest episode aired on popular shows.

Since most of the TV shows use soundtracks, many people would likely want to hear that song again. Thus, Shazam is the appropriate app for this. Shazam will listen to the song while it is playing on TV. It will tell the title of the song and the singer behind it.

TV.com app is excellent for smartphone users, who are a fan of The CW or CBS. The app is filled with premium videos, including interviews, clips and full episodes of the TV programs from the CBS library. However, this app requires a high-end phone to function well.

Lastly, InToNow is a similar app as GetGlue. However, it isn’t that user-friendly. What’s good about it is that it gets the details of the show the user is watching through speech recognition tool. This app is not as fast as GetGlue, but it is more entertaining.
