Kate’s Smokey Catwalk

Kate Moss NY Fashion WeekThe 37-year-old supermodel Kate Moss strut the catwalk while smoking in her long-awaited return in Louis Vuitton’s show during the finale of Fashion Week. She may be almost 40 but she’s still a stunning controversial queen of the runway.

The daily mail reported that Moss ignored the No Smoking Day to indulge in her habit. Though she is trying to quit smoking, she wowed the audience by puffing cigarette while doing the catwalk. Smoking, as we all know has been banned in public places, however, no one really minded. The Fashion Week isn’t a public occurrence. It’s one of the most exclusive events in France. Besides, no one really qualmed about lady gaga doing it last week at the Mugler show. The overall gesture actually resulted into a perfect ending to a fetish-themed collection headed by designer Marc Jacobs.

Kate moss has reportedly been attending sessions to bring her nicotine habits to an end. Together with her fiancé, Jamie Hince, she is trying hypnotism as a means to quit smoking. They are desperate to kick the butt because they are trying for a baby.

Both are attending hypnosis session at Harley Street, London as reported by the Sun. She smoked when she was pregnant with her 8-year-old daughter. However, it was said that she cut her puffs from 30 to 15 sticks a day since the doctor told her that it could cause complications with her pregnancy.

Now, with her Fiance Jamie Hince, she has her wedding date as a final target. She badly wants a baby as soon as possible.

Nicky Hilton and Jaime King’s Ultimate Fashion Nightmare

Nicky Hilton fashion nightmareWhen you arrive at a party realizing another girl’s wearing the same dress as yours, what would you do? Be slightly embarrassed? Put on a wry smile or genuinely shrug it off and enjoy the party? Nicky and Jaime did just that, they have actually smiled and hugged each other once they realized they were wearing the same dress.

Nicky Hilton and Jaime King arrived at the launch party for UK style by French Connection at Hollywood’s new Lexington Social house wearing the exact same sequin cheetah dress. Hilton  just added wide belt to her entire ensemble while Jaime King tied her hair up. Both were wearing black loafers!

But instead of cringing away, Nicky Hilton and Jaime King just smiled and embraced in front of the camera when they realized they’ve walked the red carpet with the same exact dress designs. They have really found humor with everything.

An onlooker tells the Daily News that “They were really good sports about it. They laughed it off and had fun posing next to each other”.

Hilton even wrote to her twitter :” My girl @Jaime_King + I committed the ultimate fashion crime. Showing up at the SAME event in the SAME dress”.

You wouldn’t believe that durring the same event, this fashion disaster didn’t just happen once. Carmen Elektra and Brooke Burke also wore the same animal-print mini dresses. However, they didn’t wear the same smile like King’s and Hilton’s, instead Burke commented on her Twitter: “Two other women are wearing the same dress I am!!!! How tacky PR!!

With four women committing the ultimate fashion nightmare, this is really an event to remember.

The world for Christian Dior’s creative director John Galliano has been falling apart over the past few days. It started after some anti-Semitic comments made by Galliano in a French pub. Livia Giuggioli steals the Oscar fashion spotlight

The Oscar's Red CarpetThe glamorous Livia Giuggioli, wife of the future Sir Colin Firth, has stunned the Oscars with her BLING. She has been wonderfully dressed for past award shows but no movie would be better  for her most stunning gown and jewelry than The King’s Speech.

She wore a gorgeos gown designed by Gary Harvey. It was cut from the 11 vintage frocks from the reign of George VI. The former Levi’s designer has really done beautifully with her gown.  However, nothing can compare to her jewelry on this occasion.

Her earrings and enormous cocktail ring were crafted from fair minded ecological gold with fully traceable gems. Nothing has ever been so traceable. The Oro Verde Gold which was used for her jewelry came from Columbia.

Workers at the CRED jewelry mine actually extract precious metals by hand and not by any chemical means. This is to avoid poisonous products like cyanide and mercury into mixing with gold.

The diamonds are from Liqhobong Women Miners Cooperative in Lesotho, and her 35 carats aquamarines came from Lundazi, whose gems are hand exported to Sri-Lanka for cutting before they are personally sent to London for display.

No jewelry has ever been made from so many traceable elements than Livia’s. the selection was made by the famous gemologist Guy Clutterback who has obviously impressed Livia. The gemologist captured her’s fancy with his stories abroad reminding Livia of her dad’s stories when he was traveling in Africa and Saudi Arabia.

Livia then choose stones from Anna Loucah, the Brighton-based designer to create the piece which is Loucah’s Fifth triumphant Oscar presentation after making the outfit of recycled white gold, ethical rubies and purple spinel, carbon-neutral pears and back diamonds.

Verizon Wireless Sells More iPhones Online

Verizon Wireless says it has more iPhone sales online than in its local store branches. The information disputes the apprehension that few people welcomed the in store debut, which pointed out low sales on the Apple Inc device.

The company started selling the phone on its website last February 3. Since then, the demand for the phone has been at top levels, Chief Executive Daniel Mead said during an interview with Reuters held at the company’s headquarters in New Jersey.

The phone hit the company’s store shelves on February 10, seven days after it launched on their website. Mead said the absence of longer lines outside Verizon Wireless stores on that day could be due to the fact that around 60 percent of their sales were made through its website.

Also, executive said the iPhone has helped greatly increase the pace at which customers changed to Verizon Wireless from its other rivals in United States. At peak times, the device brought its website up to 100 times more orders than the usual.

Mead reiterated the company’s notion that it would sell as many as 11 million iPhones this year. He informed that the company will report their sales figures specific to the iPhone when it releases earnings on the first-quarter.

The launch of Apple iPhones at Verizon ended the three-year exclusive rights deal with AT&T Inc to sell the device in United States. As a result of the added data traffic from its iPhone users, AT&T was overwhelmed with complaints about its performance. However, Verizon said its performance is doing well even with the additional data traffic received from the phone.

Who will be Kate’s Dress Designer?

Kate Middleton Wedding DressNow that the royal wedding is up, who is designing the dress that will transport Kate Middleton from an ordinary girl to royalty? — This question has been buzzing around the London Fashion week during the entire event. As of now Kate Middleton hasn’t announced who will be the fortunate designer to create her dress.

It was rumored months ago that Kate Middleton had picked designer to the stars Phillipa Lepley, who would likely create romantic dresses with flowers and vintage laces as her 2011 bridal collection suggests. However, according to Hilary Alexander, The Telegraph newspaper fashion editor, Middleton’s dress remains unknown and will continue to be unknown. This is not unlike what Lady Dianna did when she married Prince Charles.

Alexander said Middleton might have found someone to design her wedding dress but the secrecy will remain until the wedding day. Nonetheless, it is sure to be absolutely beautiful.

Most fashion experts have agreed that Kate Middleton will very likely choose a British designer. There are many top designers who were mentioned to design Kate’s dress aside from Leypley including Victoria Beckham, the former Spice girl turned fashion designer. The speculations began when she and her husband where invited to the wedding.

The paparazzi have also crowded the doorstep of Oldfield’s shop. It was there that Kate’s mother and sister were seen leaving the showroom.

According to Daniella Issa Helayel, who designed the dress Kate wore on her engagement day, royalty really has a way with fashion. After Middleton wore the blue Issa crossover, knee-length dress when she and William announced their engagement, the dress was sold out within 24 hours.

Another possibility is Elizabeth Emanuel, the designer of Princess Diana’s wedding gown back when she walked the aisle of St. Paul’s cathedral almost three decades ago.

Apple Likely to Reveal New iPad on March 2

Apple Inc. will hold an invitation-only event next week in San Francisco. Media speculations have appeared Tuesday saying Apple’s March 2nd event will unveil its second-generation iPad.

The multinational company established in Cupertino, California has already sent out invitations for the media event. Suspicions about the nature of the event are held liable by the “double meaning” graphics portrayed in the invitation.

The invitation shows a front calendar page that emphasizes the number “2”. The upper right hand corner of the invitation can be peeled away to reveal an image of the Apple iPad underneath.

Rumors say the large number “2” on the front page can either signify the date of the event or a hint that one of the largest computer companies in the world will release its second iPad product.

Only guests who have received the invitation can attend the event. It will be held at Yerba Buena Center of the Arts Theater located in San Francisco. Registration starts at 9:00 a.m., but the main event will start at 10:00 a.m. Guests are also advised to arrive early.

The actual details of the iPad 2 were not disclosed. However, various rumors have already circulated about the original iPad sequel. According to reports, the new iPad will have a front-face camera that will allow users to carry out video chats using special services such as Skype.

With video chat applications, the iPad’s design would appear closely related to the iPhone 4, which is also built with a front-face camera and installed with FaceTime video chatting software. Others said iPad 2 will look thinner and lighter in comparison to the first Apple tablet.

Gem Stones Glimmer at New York Fashion Week

Shoppers affected by the recession are unlikely to spend on gemstones such as amethysts and rubies. However, designers are driving consumers to shop on jewel-tone fashions to gratify their desire for luxury as they begin to splurge a little more.

At New York’s Fashion week, designers were giving a partial view of their styles for next fall and winter. The event, which occurs twice a year, wrapped up last Thursday.

Gem colors were prominent on the runways. Experts said elegant hues of amethysts, emeralds, rubies and sapphires exposed by several famous designers kindle the appetite of consumers.

According to Robert Burke of the luxury retail consulting firm, Robert Burke Associates, colors motivate people to spend. In fact, rich hues and luxurious fabrics inspire them to buy more.

Extravagant looks were apparent in the collections created by Carolina Herrera, as well as Diane von Furstenberg. Preen created hand-embroidered florals and Tracy Reese made flowing skirts.

Yigal Azrouel, Nicole Miller and Rebecca Taylor made fashion designs with rich sapphires while Cynthia Rowley’s couture line glowed with jade. Ruby reds glimmered on the creations of Chado Ralph Rucci and Michael Kors.

“Color Your Style” author, David Zyla said people are beginning to spend a little more money again. He thinks that if he wants to spend on a new garment, he would want it to look rich and substantial.

Also, Leatrice Eiseman, the director of Pantone Color Institute said people look on to colors that lift their spirits since they go through rough times dealing with their jobs and the current situation of the economy. She said it is really a smart choice for the designers to give colors that have an inspiring effect on people.

US Market Greeted 2011 with Weak Retail Sales

Sales in the US retail market slowed abruptly in January, according to the official data released on Tuesday. The weak retail sales were brought about the huge snow storms that affected several parts of the country in the beginning of the year.

From December, sales only increased to 0.3 percent, which shows the slowest rise in the market in seven months. The figures were based on the Commerce Department data that was adjusted for the given time of year.

In fact, the sector adjusted the December rise to 0.5 percent, where it was initially estimated to be 0.6 percent.

The pace in retail sales, as well as food services missed out the 0.5 percent increase analysts foretold, even though many stores featured sharp discounts after the holiday season.

Since January 2010, retail sales have increased to 7.8 percent based on a 12-month period. By December, retail sales merely climbed to 0.3 percent, which was barely half of the rise expected. However, the numbers excluded the automobile sector whose sales vary per month.

Garden supplies and building material dealers were the most affected area in the market. Their sales dived to 2.9 percent because of relentless winter weather and the collapse in housing markets.

The weak start of the year came after an upbeat recovery in the 2010 post recession period. That time, retail sales increased to 6.6 percent, which was the largest yearly increase since 1999.

Consumer spending, whose main indicator is retail sales, determines two-thirds of the economic activity in United States. However, they do not get sales in the area of services, which signify two-thirds of the consumption in household by value.
