Dior Keeps Galliano’s Designs… For a while

Christian Dior keeps Galliano designsAfter the controversy regarding Galliano’s anti-Semitic remarks which led to his arrest and dismissal from Dior, the company has decided to keep his designs for the time being.

The world for Christian Dior’s creative director John Galliano has been falling apart over the past few days. It started after some anti-Semitic comments made by Galliano in a French pub. He was then arrested, faced charges which led to his suspension and discharge from Christian Dior’s designer label.

Though Dior just announced that they plan to keep John Galliano’s existing designs, it is expected that overtime his replacement is a must. The question is for how long. As reported, it is said that John Galliano’s label just breaks even and sales will affect how long will his line remains on the rack.

Galliano is scheduled to stand trial sometime in June for his anti-Semitic comments to a French couple while in Paris. The comments, which were leaked online, included the statement that he “loved Hitler”. Today, Fashionistas are bidding farewell to Galliano’s 15 year tenure at the House of Dior. The abrupt and shocking dismissal brought about by his racist remarks has not just brought levy to Galliano but to his fans as well.

Meanwhile, Dior is busy finding a replacement for Galliano. Riccardo Tisci or Haider Ackermann of Givenchy’s and Lanvin’s Alber Elbaz are among the options according to NYMag.com.
