Spider-Man Stuntman Fell during Broadway Show Still in Serious Condition

An aerialist fell while giving their preview performance of the Broadway Show “Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark” last night. The stuntman was admitted to the Bellevue Hospital Center, and according to the hospital spokeswoman the patient is in serious condition.

The “Spider-Man” spokesman Rick Miramotez said in an e-mail that the accident happened approximately seven minutes before the end of the show. Christopher W. Tiemey fell from a platform, and from there the show was stopped.

Videos taken by the audiences show the actor leaping from a platform with an attached cable. The cable appears to be breaking as the actor tries to save the heroine. He was then seen falling into a dark area in front of the stage.

The injured stuntman, only 31 years old, fell around 20 to 30 feet in height according to the New York City Fire Department spokesperson.

Minerva Joubert, the hospital spokeswoman, explained in a phone interview that someone in serious condition is actually an ill patient whose vital signs may not be stable and not within the normal limits. However, she declined to give more details regarding Tiemey’s condition.

The State Department of Labor, as well as the actors union are inspecting the sets and machinery found at the Foxwoods Theater. They are already discussing backup safety measures according to Maria Somma, the spokeswoman for the Actor’s Equity Association.

The show’s official opening has already been postponed for the second time. Presently, it is scheduled to open on February 7.

Jon Favreau Will Not Direct “Iron Man 3”

Jon Favreau, the Hollywood director of the first two “Iron Man” movies, revealed on his Twitter account Tuesday that he will not continue his masterpiece in the series of Iron Man part three.

It was difficult work when negotiating Favreau to direct the Iron Man 2. Although he earned $10 million for the movie, plus a share of profits, the movie came close to not happening. During the time when he created the sci-fi movie “Cowboys and Aliens,” his talent fee rose up.

Known for maintaining low costs whenever possible, Marvel wasn’t apt to pay him the extra fees. Just recently, Favreau joined to direct and enhance the “Magic Kingdom.” This is a huge movie based on the theme parks of Disney.

Favreau confirmed that he will be directing Magic Kingdom and not the Iron Man 3. He added that he had a great time with the Marvel and he wishes them the best.

During a recent MTV interview, Favreau said that the Iron Man 3 is supposed to be a sequel of Hulk, Thor, Avengers and Captain America in theory. He had no single idea what it is and he thinks Marvel doesn’t either.

The first two Iron Man movies have earned over $1.2 billion in the worldwide box office turning Robert Downery Jr. into a shining action hero. Iron Man 3 is anticipated to be out on 2013.

Iron Man is a member of the superhero team, Avengers and has been published in several comic book series. It has been adapted in TV shows as well.

Barbra Streisand Adores Design in Her New Book

Barbra expressed her love for the design on her first book, which is newly released in several book stores nationwide.

This time, the book is not a reflection of any of the films where Streisand took part of such as “Funny Girl” and “The Way We Were.” It also does not narrate the making of her albums that have sold over 71 million copies worldwide.

Instead, Streisand wrote about her love for architecture, furniture, art and landscaping in her new book, “My Passion for Design.” The book does not precisely open her home to guests during holiday party, but for the singing sensation and her avid fans, it is quite close to doing so.

Readers must not be fooled by the title of the book as Barbra Streisand informs the stories of how her life and career influenced her choices on designing her dream house in Malibu, California.

The book is written in a first-person style, which makes the star think that the book is made more interesting. Several people have been asking Streisand to write her autobiography, but the singing star does not want to be personal and get there yet. However, she believed this is ensued in her writing.

The coffee table book shows what is beautiful to her and how she sees the world today. The book from Viking publishers brings its readers towards Streisand’s life-long journey to plan, build, as well as furnish items that resemble a 19th century farm in New England, with a main house, barn and mill house, along with Grandma’s house and chicken coop.

This is not the first house that the singer has designed her self. However, it is the house where Streisand and her husband spend most of their time. Streisand also took most of the pictures portrayed in the book that adds more on the book’s personal touches.

Robert Downey Jr., the Voice of Planters Peanuts Mascot in a New Commercial

Robert Downey Jr., the man behind the metal suit, takes a new role in a commercial as the voice of Mr. Peanuts, the famous Planters Peanuts mascot. The “Iron Man” actor has traded his gleaming metal suit for a peanut with a top hat, cane and monocle.

This will be the first time that the anthropomorphic nut will ever speak in a commercial. Kraft Foods, which is the parent company of Planter Peanuts, launched this new advertisement on the Internet this Tuesday. Their plans are to show it later on television, as well as movie theaters.

The commercial is a 33-second ad with Mr. Peanut throwing a “holiday party” at his home. His house is decorated with green and red lights, with tinsel and a Christmas tree.

The advertisement introduces a sidekick peanut, who is smaller than Mr. Peanut, attending the party along with other guests, which includes a grasshopper and a turtle.

In a tone similar to Tony Stark, Mr. Peanut suggests how to throw a great party. He says, “Just serve classy snacks and be a gracious host, no matter who shows up.”

Just then, Richard, a nutcracker comes in and the room falls silent. Uneasy Richard asks forgiveness for what happened to Mr. Peanut with his bandaged head.

Created in 1916, Mr. Peanut is a nut with human features, which was created by a 14-year-old boy after Planter Peanuts hosted a logo-making contest. Mr. Peanut used to be colored with yellow, but the one voiced by Downey Jr. is brown in color.

Judy Blume’s “Tiger Eyes” Hits the Big Screen

Judy Blume’s young adult novel, “Tiger Eyes” is about to hit the big screen as the author agreed to pass the adaptation. Judy Blume wrote the screenplay along with her son, Lawrence Blume, who will be directing the film.

Tiger Eyes has been previously adapted in television such as the Fudge series and two ABC weekend specials in the year 1990s. However, this is the first time that the novel will be translated into a featured film since it has been believed that Blume is unwilling to agree to adaptations.

Tesco, a UK-based retail giant will be financing the film and the budget for the production will be less than $5 million. They will be looking for a U.S distributor when the film is done shooting.

“Tiger Eyes” was written by Judy Blume in the year 1981. It tells a story of a teenage girl named, Davey, whose family is forced to transfer to her relative’s house in New Mexico after her father was killed in a robbery.

The girl meets an American Indian boy named, Wolf, who has a terminally-sick father admitted in a hospital. In the course of the movie, Davey will learn how to deal with her loss and fear.

According to Blume, at first she was writing the story based on a family relocating to a new town, just as she did when she transferred with her children to Los Alamos. However, she soon realized that the story was a subconscious way for her to deal with the memory of her father who had a sudden death.

Blume said that she never thought of putting her novel in big screens even when there were several invitations. But, she is glad that her son will be directing the film. The productions will start on Wednesday in Santa Fe.

Taylor Swift’s Contract Dispute Continues

Taylor Swift’s case with her ex-manager, Dan Dymtrow continues before a federal judge in New York. Dan Dymtrow filed a lawsuit against the Swifts over a contract dispute last 2007 and the case drags on through today.

The music manager claims that Swift’s parents owe him millions in commissions since he discovered and built Taylor Swift’s career. Taylor Swift was 14 when she signed a contract with Dymtrow in April. Taylor Swift ended her contract in July 2005.

According to Dymtrow, his management made an agreement with Scott and Andrea Swift that he should be paid with 5 to 10 percent commission or more from Taylor’s career in the music industry. However, after introducing Taylor Swift to the industry’s popular names like Scott Borchetta, which is the CEO of Big Machine, they fired him to avoid paying him with the said commission.

Both parties have been battling the case in court. Dymtrow’s attorney, Fernando Pinguelo said that Taylor Swift’s parents kept on delaying his client’s commissions until they got rid of him.

The Swifts claimed in response to Dymtrow’s party that because Dymtrow was not able to obtain the required court approval of him managing Taylor, which is still a minor by that time, they legally ended the contract in 2005. This was months before Taylor signed an agreement with the Big Machine and one year before she released her debut single entitled, “Tim McGraw.”

Paul LiCalsi, Swift’s lawyer said that paying Dymtrow would defeat the entire purpose of the law in New York to protect minors from their signed contracts.

The two parties had already submitted their joint letter to the court hoping they will each prove their case.

MTV Revives “Punk’d” with New Host, Justin Bieber

MTV is bringing back their prank show, Punk’d, with Justin Bieber’s hosting. According to the New York magazine’s entertainment blog, the 16-year old pop star has been tapped to host the return of the show.

Ashton Krutcher hosted the show back when it was first shown in 2003 until it retired in 2007. Today, as the show will be brought to life again, he will continue to be part Punk’td as its executive producer through the Katalyst Entertainment banner.

The concept of Punk’d involves tricking lists of celebrities with hidden cameras to film everything that happens. Justin Timberlake once cried in one of its episodes when he believed the government was repossessing everything that he owns.

If Bieber agrees to be part of the show, he will be hosting the MTV prank show. As mentioned by the Vulture, Justin Bieber will probably host the first few episodes while wearing the usual trucker hat, before introducing the prank clips.

Bieber was the first artist to ever chart the Billboard’s Hot 100 with seven songs. Currently, the teenage singer is on its My World 2.0 concert tour. He is also preparing for the release of his biopic/concert film, Valentine’s Day, hoping to make its way to acting along with Will Smith.

Since Kutcher’s retirement from “Punk’d” in 2007, MTV has been looking forward to bring the show back, as reported by the Vulture, New York Magazine.

Tropical Storm Nicole Hits Jamaica; Nine People Confirmed Dead, Many are still Missing

The short-lived tropical storm Nicole lashed Jamaica on Wednesday, leaving at least nine people dead and many others are still missing. The storm triggered flash-flooding in some areas in Jamaica while it caused dumped heavy rain on Cuba, Florida, Bahamas and the Cayman Islands.

The deadly storm was formed on Wednesday morning as it disappeared on Wednesday afternoon. Its short-lived occurrence deemed U.S and Cuban meteorologist to disagree on whether it is a tropical storm at all.

According to the weather forecasters from the U.S National Hurricane Center located in Miami, Nicole’s peak sustained winds were running at 40 miles per hour. This is just one mile per hour more than the 39 mph threshold for it to be called as storm.

However, Jorge Rubiera, Cuba’s top meteorologist said that the tropical storm did not exist. Cuban forecasters said that Nicole’s top winds as it reached their island was only 37 mph.

But, U.S forecasters believed that Nicole has a poorly defined circulation center, and that it has a marginal system. Cuban forecasters think that it is not a storm since they are on the other side of the margin.

Nicole dissipated into thunderstorms and was forecast to travel north to northeast over the Atlantic on Wednesday night. By Friday, it would arrive in U.S Mid-Atlantic States.

The storm caused sudden floods that drowned a teenage boy, two elderly men and a family of six. There were several roads blocked with mudslides and standing water, the bridges collapsed and several farmers lost crops and livestock. The storm also caused power shutdown over 300,000 households.
