Elton John and Partner Become Parents of a Christmas Baby

Elton John is now a proud father of a baby boy born through a surrogate in California on the day of Christmas as reported by the US Weekly on Monday.

The baby is named Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John. He is the first for the British singer, as well as the Canadian filmmaker David Furnish.

Elton John and David Furnish have been together since the early 1990s. The two decided to enter a civil partnership in 2005. A year before the child’s birth, the couple tried to adopt an orphan from Ukraine but were declined by the country’s government because of the child’s infectious disease.

At this very special moment, the partners are overwhelmed with happiness and joy. Their statement was quoted by US Weekly telling more that Zachary is healthy and doing really well. The couples said they are very proud and happy parents.

The celebrity magazine informed that the baby boy weighed 7 pounds and 15 ounces. It quoted Elton John’s representative informing that there would be no further details that will be released regarding the arrangement of the surrogacy.

Friends of the proud parents congratulated them today including Actress Elizabeth Hurley who was one of the first to give her best wishes to the singer and his partner, David Furnish.

The baby boy’s middle name was thought to be taken from Elton John’s 1971 classic hit song entitled, Levon. The song that was written by the rock singer’s lifelong partner Bernie Taupin was about a man that ‘was born a pauper to a pawn on Christmas Day.’
